City of Glenwood Springs Community Center to Reopen July 20, 2020 to Reservations Only

Glenwood Springs, CO – The Glenwood Springs Community Center will reopen to fitness and pool reservations July 20, 2020 after being closed due to an employee testing positive for COVID-19 on July 5, 2020. In addition, the Basketball Gymnasium will also be available for reservation beginning Monday July 20.

The closure was necessary due to lack of adequate staffing while some employees completed self-isolation as recommended by Garfield County Public Health. In an email to Community Center users that had reservations between June 29 and July 2, Garfield County Public Health officials wrote that “All recommended safety protocols were being practiced, and [the] risk of contracting COVID-19 from exposure to this individual is very minimal. The use of masks, social distancing and necessary cleaning procedures were in place to ensure the safest environment possible for staff and those using the facility.”

Social distancing protocols will remain in place for all community center users including; limited access, separate entrances to the fitness area and the lap pool as well as entry and exit to each area, and guests can only enter the area for which they have a reservation. All Reservations are made online. Guests are also required to maintain social distance while using the facilities and strict cleaning occurs after each use of fitness areas.

Reservations must be made to enter the Community Center for any reason. To make a reservation or for more information about available amenities visit the Parks & Recreation website, www.glenwoodrec.com.
Glenwood Springs is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of employees and Community Center users. If you have questions or concerns, please contact Garfield County Public Health at 970-945-6614.
