Ice Rink Rules
General Guidelines
  • No fast or careless skating
  • No more than three persons allowed to hold hands while skating
  • Jumps and spins allowed onlyat center rink or designated areas during public skate
  • No one allowed on the ice during resurfacing
  • No food or beverages allowed on Ice
  • No horseplay or potentially unsafe games allowed on ice.(i.e. tag, or whip)
  • Carrying children on the ice is prohibited.
  • Skaters must skate with the flow of traffic.
  • Sticks and pucks are allowed only during designated times.
  • Helmets are required when sticks and/or pucks are present on the ice.
    • No shoes or boots allowed on the ice.
  • All skating instructors must be City of Glenwood Springs Parks and Rec Department employees.
  • User groups are responsible for cleanup, damages, and conduct of participants and spectators on and off the ice during private facility rentals.
  • Those participating in facility activities assume all inherent risk and responsibilities whether spectator or participant.
  • Glenwood Springs Parks and Rec Department is not responsible for unattended, lost or stolen articles.
  • Inappropriate use of profanity, tobacco, alcohol, or sunflower seeds or may be asked to leave and be suspended from any activity at the facility for a period of time at the discretion of facility management.
  • Management is not responsible for lost or stolen articles.
 
Drop-In Hockey Guidelines
  • Absolutely no checking.
  • No slap shots.
  • No ice hogs or puck hogs, short shifts are mandatory (those not yielding fair ice time and considerate play may be asked to leave).
  • You must stick handle and skate in control or you may be asked to leave.
  • Keep shots and passes at chest level or lower.
  • It is recommended that you be 18 years or older to play.
  • Minors 15-17 years old may play provided they have a current completed waiver on file prior to play.
  • Hockey helmet, gloves, and knee/shin protection is required, full hockey gear is recommended.
  • Make sure that doors are firmly latched every time you enter/exit the rink or bench.
  • Bring a dark and a light jersey to every drop-in.
  • Pucks provided are the property of Glenwood springs ice rink and should be returned.
  • Participants must leave the ice promptly upon scheduled ending time.
  • No one is allowed on the ice prior to start time without explicit permission from rink staff.
  • Players are individually responsible for signing up• You must pay and sign in prior to getting on the ice, failure to do so will result in facility suspension.
  • Participation is limited to the amount of slotsprinted on the Drop-In sign up sheet, no exceptions.
  • Sign-up is first come first serve and all slots must be paid for upon signing up, only those signed up will be allowed to participate. Goalies play for free.
 
Summer Rink Rules
  • Inline-skating, skateboarding, soccer, roller hockey and rink based team sports are allowed only. NO Bicycles, motorized skateboards or other large sporting equipment allowed.
  • Facility Use is first come first serve, patrons with rink reservations have paid for exclusive use during the times specified.
  • Rink use closes 30 min. prior to main facility.
  • Public use is prohibited during programmed and private events. Please check with the front desk for a complete schedule.
  • NO Loitering inside the rink. The rink is for the appropriate uses listed above, anyone using the facility for other activities without expressed consent will be asked to leave.
  • Absolutely no foreign objects are to be brought into the rink area including rails, boxes, benches, or any other objects, with the exception of hockey nets.
  • The fenced area is off limits, all items are the property of the City of Glenwood Springs.
  • Rink users must clean up after themselves, please leave the rink as you found it.
  • NO Glass or bottles allowed on the rink surface.
  • Hockey Nets are for inline hockey use only, please treat them with respect and avoid dragging them on the concrete if possible.
  • The Rink building is closed to public use without prior written approval.
  • Any persons violating any of the above rules or utilizing the facility outside the posted hours will be considered to be trespassing.
