Public Art Master Plan

WHY DOES GLENWOOD SPRINGS NEED A PUBLIC ART PLAN?

As our city works to recover from the unprecedented impacts of both the COVID-19 Pandemic and the Grizzly Creek Fire the Glenwood Springs Public Art Master Plan (which began in late 2019) presents an opportunity to help enliven and inspire our city through defining and projecting our signature to the region and the State of Colorado. Our plan will set the standard for how we begin to implement and enjoy public art while also embracing our community’s spirit and artistic expressions.

Public art helps us celebrate our heritage, communicate our direction, and characterize our sense of place. Public art can be used to activate space and invigorate our community. Thoughtfully implemented art can define Glenwood Springs and convey our spirit and energy to ourselves and our visitors. We want to build on the foundation of the great murals, sculptures and artifacts that represent the artists of Glenwood Springs.
